5 things a quality new home building process should include…

1.)   A knowledgeable person who is willing who listens to how you and your family want to live. A quality builder salesperson can take the information you share about your life and family and help you turn that into your new dream home. They know it’s not about what they want; it’s about what you want. (Read more about picking the right home plan)

2.)   A person who personally has seen your selections used on a built home and who can help guide you to brick, siding and vinyl selections that fit the look you want.

3.)   A meeting after all the customer “pick outs” have been made and prior to the start of construction to confirm with the customer that all items on the builder’s start sheet are correct including customer selections, option selections, electrical selections and configuration of the home on lot. This home needs to be the way you want it and getting the process started off wrong can make that next to impossible.(More on making selections)

4.)   To insure that everything is the way you want it and where you want it your builder salesperson should inspect the home with you after rough framing, electrical and plumbing. Doing this before drywall goes up is important.

5.)   You should receive a final walk through inspection and orientation with the builder and/or builder salesperson prior to closing. The house should be clean and finished. Having people come in to finish items after you move in is not pleasant for anybody. More on new home walk through
